Mom, am I doing well? | 엄마, 그곳에 천사는 없었어요 (2014)

Inkyoung(Director) had a nightmare. It was about, Ankhaa and Tucksuu, called ‘Mongolian Mom’ and ‘Mongolian Dad’, who got lost in a beautiful, cruel snowfield, and died of hunger and cold.
She decided to go to Mongolia again. One year prior, Inkyoung was an NGO manager supervising the work of planting trees to fight desertification in Mongolia. Working and living with the native workers, she became like a daughter to them. However, Inkyoung gradually realized they lived a harsh life in extreme poverty. The goal of the NGO begins with good intentions but turns predatorily, nibbling away their lives with low wages. Also, she imposed the pride of the workers to justify their low wages.

Although she is not working there anymore, her guilt and anxiety toward the natives don’t fade out. She starts the journey to find answers. What can she do for the unintended consequence she made? What is the range of responsibility between the good intention and the unintended consequence? She meets NGO executives, donors, and those related to these questions.
When Inkyoung goes back to Mongolia she faces Ankhaa and Tucksuu again and talks to them openly about what she thinks. Do they live well unlike the dream of her? How will they react to her thoughts? What’s the answer Inkyoung chose at last?
